Tarin denies immediate increase in power tariff

ISLAMABAD: Finance Advisor Shaukat Tarin said all debts in energy sector would be cleared before August 15.

Addressing a seminar in privatization commission, Tarin said power tariff couldn’t increase at the moment because hike in tariff is not possible with ongoing load-shedding.

Tarin said there is no need of borrowing loans from IMF and situation will be clear soon after negotiations with friend countries that how much funds available for different sectors.

“ Tax revenue target will be achieve after bringing real state and service sector into tax net whereas the purpose of imposing tax on petroleum is to get drop in demand,” he added.
