Police failed to counter violence in Karachi: MQM
KARACHI: MQM’s Deputy Parliamentary Leader Haider Abbas Rizvi said on Saturday that police had failed to counter violence and target killings in Karachi and that Rangers should take immediate action to restore peace to the city.
Talking to DawnNews, Rizvi refuted allegations that MQM activists were involved in the recent violence in Karachi, adding that his party had very little presence in the area.
He said that the same gangs that were running drugs, guns and land mafias in the city were behind the killings.
Commenting on Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s statement that surgical operations will be launched against miscreants, Rizvi said that MQM will collaborate with any efforts to purge violence from Karachi.
