LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has summoned the federal government on February 4 to file a detailed response regarding its request to allow the government to meet the five US nationals arrested from Sargodha.
The US nationals were arrested on suspicion of plotting terror attacks in Pakistan and for their alleged connections with banned militant outfits.
An FBI team interrogated them before handing them over to a joint investigation team in Lahore. A case in this regard is now being heard at the Anti-Terrorist Court in Sargodha.
Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Justice Khwaja Sharif, on a petition filed by Advocate Khalid Khwaja barred the deportation of the five US nationals on December 14, 2009.
The petitioner maintained that the five foreigners should be tried according to provisions in the constitution of Pakistan. — DawnNews
